Our teachers are certified kayak instructors! With a sea kayak, you get close to the unique animal and bird life in Øyrekka. We paddle in the surrounding area and experience nature among the islands. Learning an Eskimo roll can also be done, if desired.Fees may apply if you need a “våttkort” – a Norwegian kayaking certificate. 

Design and redisign: Basic stitching and use of sewing machine. Use your creativity to sew textiles into something new. Redesign of furniture. Guerrilla embroidery. Upcycling "worthless materials" into new treasures. Working with wood.

Basic introduction to filmmaking. Maybe the "exam" will be to produce a documentary film about the local communities in Øyrekka or about your year at the folk high school?

The community out here is built up through voluntary work and cooperation, where everyone contributes what they can. We choose local projects and contribute to our school and local community.

The school's creative music teacher kicks off bands at the start of the school year, inviting anyone who loves to use instruments and their voice to join in!

 In collaboration with the teacher, we find old and new classics, and "work" our way through them!

Fish cakes, salted fish ball, fish soup, gratin crayfish... Love seafood and want to learn more about it? You buy produce yourself from the fish landing and convenience store and learn the "trade" from scratch!
